Postpartum Depression is
A medical illness that effects approximately 12% of women who have just given birth.
It is an illness that may occur anytime within the 1st year after the birth of the baby.
It is the result of a chemical imbalance, as well as, other environmental stressors.
It is not an illness that you have control over, and you cannot "wish it away" or "snap out of it"
Postpartum Depression...NOT ME!
Well, maybe
"I haven't been feeling like myself and I just can't seem to get it together, but I can't have Postpartum Depression. I really love my baby, and I've waited so long to have my baby. I have a great husband, and a great job to go back to. I don't have any reason to be depressed, BUT...something feels wrong, something is not right."
Most women do not EXPECT to suffer from Postpartum Depression. Women will list a million reasons as to why they cannot be experiencing Postpartum Depression.
This is DANGEROUS because it can lead to denial of a serious, but treatable illness.
